Who Are The Shedless Men?

A group of around 116 men that meet monthly for discussions over coffee, presentations on topics of interest and external tours to interesting locations.

Ten or so years ago, a number of gentlemen from Breakfast Point and the surrounding area arranged to meet once a month to have coffee and discuss things of mutual interest.

Out of these humble beginnings has grown two men’s groups, the first being the creation of the Shedless Men (we have no Shed!), and later the Mens Shed, when the shed became available. The Shedless Men have 116 members that meet the first Monday of each month to exchange views on past experiences, current concerns and issues of interest, in a casual setting. We also engage local and guest speakers on subjects of direct interest to the group, as well as group tours of places of interest.

The usual attendance is about 30-40 men (depending upon holidays, grandfather duties, husband duties etc.) we have covered topics from the establishment of Breakfast Point, men’s health, financial planning, the history of the Catalina Flying Boats and a tour and talk on Sydney Maritime Museum Tall Ships and workshops to name a few.

What has become evident during these discussions is the breadth of knowledge and experience(s) we have within our Shedless Men Group; we have taken advantage of this by having members of our group cover topics from the history of the Great North Road, Australia’s own war tank construction, police physiologists, airline piloting and international intelligence.

We will continue to “’exploit”’ the vast experiences from within the group plus keep looking for interesting topics to present.

We meet 1st Monday of each month, at 09:30 – 11:30, in the Administration Building Room 6-7; everyone is welcome to become part of the Breakfast Point Shedless Men.
